Biography

Dr. Vanni is Associate Professor at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, and Director of the Center for Reconstructive Urologic Surgery. Dr. Vanni is a graduate of Princeton University and earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado. He completed his urology residency at the Lahey Clinic, followed by a fellowship in Trauma and Reconstructive Urology from the University of Washington.

Dr. Vanni is an expert in complex genitourinary reconstruction and Director of the Male Genitourinary Reconstructive Urologic Surgery Fellowship at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. His clinical interests include urethral stricture disease, rectourethral fistulas, concealed (buried) penis repair, genitourinary reconstruction, genitourinary trauma, Peyronie’s disease, and post-prostatectomy incontinence. He has published numerous manuscripts and book chapters, and is active in developing cutting edge reconstructive techniques.

Dr. Vanni is board certified in urology and a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), where he is a member of the AUA urethral stricture guidelines panel. Additionally, he is a member of the Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), the leading academic and clinical forum for reconstructive urology.

Dr. Vanni joined the Trauma and Urinary Reconstructive Network of Surgeons (TURNS) in 2014. Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is one of 13 academic centers collaborating in the study of patients treated for a variety of conditions in reconstructive urology and trauma. This network is designed to prospectively collect data and provide sophisticated analysis of both surgical and patient reported outcomes from urethral stricture surgery, male incontinence surgery, and a variety of other conditions. This type of collaborative research effort is essential to advancing the field of urologic reconstruction.
