Dr. Brian Inouye is Associate Professor of Urology at Albany Medical Center. He has a special interest in improving the quality of life for trauma and cancer survivors from the symptoms, pain, and distress that can develop during or after therapy. This includes addressing severe side effects of cancer treatments such as rectourethral fistula and end-stage irradiated bladders. He is a member of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons and currently serves as chair of the Young GURS Committee. In addition, he serves as assistant program director for the Urology Residency at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Inouye completed urology residency at Duke University and continued there for his fellowship in Reconstructive Urology and Cancer Survivorship with Dr Andrew Peterson. His research focuses on the mechanisms and natural history of the pathology within reconstructive urology and genitourinary cancer survivorship. During his residency training, he was awarded the Urology Care Foundation Resident Research Award.
