Dr. Jill Buckley is a Professor of Urology at UC San Diego, specializing in Urologic Reconstructive Surgery. She completed her urology residency at UC San Francisco, followed by a fellowship in Reconstruction and Trauma Surgery at UC San Francisco. Prior to joining UCSD in 2013, she was faculty at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Buckley graduated from UCLA and also earned her medical degree from UCLA. She is board certified in urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is an active member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, member and prior chair of the GURS fellowship committee, and a member of Trauma and Urologic Reconstructive Network of Surgeons. She was the program director of the UCSD Urology Residency program from 2014 to 2024 and has been director of the UCSD Reconstructive Urology Fellowship since its inception in 2017.
Dr. Buckley is an expert in complicated urinary conditions including urethral stricture, ureteral stricture/injury, urinary fistulas, urologic trauma, male incontinence surgery and complications following cancer treatment. She has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters and editorials as well as serving on editorial boards. She was voted educator of the year in 2020, 2025 by the urology house staff. She receives invitations to speak at local, regional and international conferences. She is committed to patient care, education and advancing the field of reconstructive urology through clinical and translational research.
